Will Weather Affect Poll Openings?

Weather predictions indicate a possibility of freezing precipitation tonight. If that occurs, I wanted to address what will happen at the polling locations on election day across the county. There will be NO standard delay of the polls opening. No matter what school districts or other agencies choose to do, we will not seek a court order for polls to open later than 7 am. That being said, conditions across the county tomorrow morning will dictate when individual polling locations will be able to open. The election workers are instructed to have the polls open at 7am or as soon as can safely be accomplished. If we awake to clear conditions, all polls will be open at 7am. If we awake to dangerous conditions, polls will open as close to 7am as the workers can safely arrive, on a case-by-case basis. In that event, we will help publish on our party web site the opening status of each polling location as it is reported to us. Your patience is appreciated as we flex with the weather. Albert L. Ellison, Chairman Bastrop County Republican Party
