Iowa Signals Conservative Victory

The results from the Iowa Republican Presidential Caucus are as follows:

Romney - 24.6%
Santorum - 24.5%
Paul - 21.4%
Gingrich - 13.3%
Perry - 10.3%

That suggests that 75.4% of voters in Iowa were looking for a candidate more conservative than Romney is, but remain divided over who that standard-bearer should be. After the vote, Michelle Bachmann withdrew, further consolidating the conservative vote from here out. United we stand; divided we fall.

My observation is that conservatives do not trust Romney to be conservative enough. If you recall from 2008, once McCain won the Republican nomination, even Romney was looking pretty good. So no matter the outcome, we will emerge with a better candidate than last cycle.
